Love, exciting and new
Come aboard, we’re expecting you
– from the Theme song: Love Boat TV Series
I have always loved watching the sky through the sailing boat poles, and there I was sitting the marina of Çeşme, a lively seaside town on the Aegean coast of Turkey on a beautiful June morning, doing just that.
Why do I like this view so much? If I were to define somehow, I would say it evokes a combination of freedom and balance, a sense of adventure and serenity at the same time. That somehow I will be able to chart my course, find my way and that I am equipped for it, be it stormy or fair weather.
Reading above, you will notice this overall feeling of peace and centeredness is a strange combination of many opposite feelings or states. And so it is: aren’t we all, a strange and unique mix of many different things all at once? Makes me want to ask once more:
What is possible for me, for us, in accepting all that we are, with all the ups and downs, the highs and lows? How can we open more to enjoying every moment of the boat and the sail that is our lives?
I have recently finished reading an adorable book on love, friendship and life, most of it taking place on a boat:), and I give you this exquisite description I found in it – of what love might really look like:
“Love is a house. Everything in a house should be used – nothing mothballed or ‘spared’. Only if we fully inhabit a house, shunning no room or no door, are we truly alive. Arguing and touching each other tenderly are both important; so are holding each other tight and pushing each other away. We must use absolutely every one of love’s rooms. If not, ghosts and rumors will thrive. Neglected rooms and houses can become treacherous and foul…”
